Hi,
in addition to those recently announced we’ve identified two more suitable talks for the TelcoSecDay 😉
These are
Ravishankar Borgaonkar – TelcoSecurity Mirage: 1G to 5G
Synopsis: The evolution of the mobile networking technology from 1G to 5G is driving the needs of our modern Digital Society. In this talk, we visit the security pillars of these technologies and discuss if 5G can strengthen them or not from an end-users perspective. In particular, we try to fill up security requirements for 5G networks based on the ongoing design direction.
Bio: Ravishankar works as a postdoctoral researcher in Intel Collaborative Research Institute for Secure Computing (ICRI-SC). His research themes are related to mobile telecommunication and involved security threats. This ranges from GSM/UMTS/LTE network security to end-user device security.
At the Troopers13 TelcoSecDay he presented on “Dirty use of USSD codes in cellular networks“.
At Troopers11 he gave the “Femtocell: Femtostep to the Holy Grail” talk together with Kévin Redon.

Dieter Spaar – How to Assess M2M Communication from an Attacker’s Perspective
Synopsis: It is known to happen that designers or developers of a system make false assumptions about the effort required to attack it. This talk will discuss the process of analyzing an unknown hardware/software system from the perspective of an attacker. The focus will be on M2M systems and provide real world examples.
Bio: Dieter Spaar is a software developer and security researcher from Germany. He has many years of experience in software and hardware reverse-engineering. Since 2008 he is involved in the OpenBSC and OsmocomBB projects and started to focus on the security of mobile communication.
